Today was another productive day. I got the bed and the cab taken off the frame.

Taking the bed off.


Took the doors off and the glass out.


Taking the cab off.


Now and empty frame ready for everything to be taken off of it.


The cab will be for sale soon. It is a 1970 cab. It does have its share of issues but if you have questions or would like pics let me know. It is located in Santa Fe, Texas, between Houston and Galveston. I also have a pretty decent long bed if anyone is interested.

Hopefully I will be doing the c-notch this weekend and taking it to be powdercoated.

Spent my spring break working on the truck. Did not get quite as far along as I would like to have but I did get a lot done.

The frame is now powdercoated. Had a local place do the frame and the rear end housing for me.


The rest of the suspension parts I did myself in my own oven.




Put the spindles on the I-beams


I started filling in holes on the bed. A previous owner must have had a snap on bed cover at one time.

Did a little more work this past weekend. Got the rotors and calipers mounted.



Looking forward to having good Friday off so I can hopefully get the rest of the frame completed and get the wheels back on it.

Finally got some more pictures to post. The rear end is back together and the frame is sitting on the wheels again. Still a few things left to do before I start the body work. Rear shocks still need to go on. I had forgotten to powder coat the bolts for the shocks.

Steering gear box and brake lines will be coming shortly.

And it needs the dust cleaned off.

Nice. Neat to watch. Wish I had the option to powder coat, but money and availability of a powdercoater are both sparse.
I will be ospho mini and perhaps rattle can or brush on something for the frame.

I recommend POR 15 for the frame if you don't powdercoat. I have used it on the inner fenders, underside of the hood, the floor of the cab, underside of the cab and will paint the inside of the front fenders and the underneath side of the bed. It sprays easily and smooths itself. As long as it is not in the sun it does not have to be topcoated.

Did you apply it directly to the frame or did you use metal ready. That product just sounds like an etching primer.

I used it too and applied it directly to the bare metal. Adheres well and tough as nails.

Agreed about the POR 15. Used it on frame, chassis parts, inner fenders, core support, etc... I used the chassis black. Looks great for all pieces that are supposed to be more of a satin, but not flat finish.
