Well, there are no open reports.... so how about reporting them...

Ah, to the curious, click members in the upper right corner, click the joined tab and scroll down to see all the 'kitchens' links in their profiles. Also note when they post, 2:30-5am, usually heavy during the first of the month.

Killing these things off is time consuming. Doing a blanket IP ban for Pakistan and China regions should take care of most but no privs...

Oh yeah, please do not reply to them as we just have to delete you post as well.

Those are all manual registrations....meaning, it's not a bot, these registrations are actually people sitting down in front of their computer and registering for the forums and then clicking the link in their e-mail to activate their account. Most of these are originating in Malaysia. Most of them are simply interested in putting a link into their Profile sig. I'm very very close to disabling sig files for new registrations to combat this...hoping that once they find out they can't hit and run, they'll leave us alone.

Any way to route any registration not from north america for manual approval... and give at least me and Jamie the ability to approve...?

Unfortunately no...I could do it across-the-board for ALL registrations, but with the current software there isn't provisions for filtering out foreign registrations.

Hey guys! If somebody drops spam in the middle of a good thread, and we report it, it doesn't interfere with that thread does it? I'd hate to lose a good tech thread because some A-hole popped spam in the middle of it.

No we can get the single post... it is easier if several people don't quote and reply because then we have to delete those as well or if there is good content along with the quote edit them...

Noticed we had four new spam registrations today, two each from two different IP addresses...both in Indonesia. I've banned their entire IP range, so we'll see how that goes. There are ways around it, if they're so inlined (and bright enough).

BTW did we mean to ban the e-mail domain "outlook.com" that is the new hotmail....
