try it out
I have had my sand blasting setup for a couple years and now it is about time to try it out on this. I got it from LIVEWIRE a while back. He is a straight shooter.

That long cylinder hanging from the ceiling? How much media does that hold!? Btw, loving that wall. You can almost taste the memories.

This holds plenty. Was thinking on blasting the long thing that is hanging there.

Sandblasting is like going to beach. You can never figure out how all that sand got in there.

Re: try it out
yeah I was scratching my head over the pic too....
I have one of those sandblasters if that's the harbor freight version. Let me just say that I spent 10 hours fiddling with it for 10 minutes of blasting and gave up. Local race shop let me borrow their cabinet so I could actually finish the job. So frustrating.

No not Harbor Freight, it is a Job Smart pressurized tank I bought at Tractor Supply.toddspeed wrote:yeah I was scratching my head over the pic too....

Re: try it out
Let us know how it works out for ya. I just might check into one from TSC myself. I've been using the syphon feed but want something better at a affordable price.

Re: try it out
Here's the one I use. Got it from a friend who got it when his father passed away. Gotta be 30 years old. I replaced the hose and gun with a 9.99 Home Depot special. I'd love to have a pressurized system but it's just not in the budget. I've found that the media you use makes all the difference. This thing won't spray sand no matter what you do. However, it'll blast Black Diamond medium (30/60) grit like a champ. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/b ... edia-50-lb It doesn't do as well with the coarse grit (20/40) but still better than sand. I've pushed literally tons of Black Diamond through this thing with no problem other than a kinked hose every now and then.

Re: try it out
That is similar to what i use. I purchased a $7.00 kiddy pool and stood 18 inch high cardboard up all the way around on the inside of pool to catch most of the black diamond for recycling. Works good for anything that will fit in pool.sargentrs wrote:Here's the one I use. Got it from a friend who got it when his father passed away. Gotta be 30 years old. Re: try it out
That TSC version is the same thing they sell at Harbor Freight.....it clogs at the L bend feeding out the bottom when using Black Diamond (the strains are too long) and even plain sand gets clogged. I went through two loads of sand trying to make it work, and have 2 1/2 bags of Black Diamond sitting here collecting dust. Argh I used so many swear words that day I think I invented some new ones. I practically wore out the fittings taking them apart so often.
