which windshield molding to get

Post by Jason Jones »

I have 72 bump WITHOUT the chrome Stainless Windshield Molding that covers the WHOLE rubber gasket. (NOT the little thin plastic chrome you can get!) My question is, if I want to replace the rubber gasket with the right one so I can put the molding on. Witch window seal will I need? The WINDSHIELD SEAL WITH GROOVE or WITHOUT THE GROVE. Thanks!!
And who make a good/best windows cab seal kits? Dennis Carpenter, LMC or someone else?

With the groove. There is a strip on the back of the stainless that fits into this groove.

With the groove is for trim, without the groove is plain rubber.

Just a note, there have been others on this site that have tried to re-install the trim and it is not easy to say the least. There have been some that have been successful, but there are others that have tried and given up and then ordered new rubber without the groove and went without the trim.

I personally am planning on trying to re-install my trim, but at least I know the hardship that awaits me. Obviously it can be done as it had to be installed originally, but I guess Ford's way of installing this trim properly is some sort of lost art. :2cents:
