New engine. Your opinion...

Post by crashdummy »

I have a '66 with a 240 & 3 on the tree. The 240 is shot; smoking out the tailpipe and the valve cover... I can buy a 240 long block from a local rebuild shop for $1200. Or, I could buy a 351W for the same price. Personally, I'd go for the latter.

What would you do?

I had a '89 Mustang LX with a rebuilt 302(300HP;ATKengines-TX) and a T5 behind it. I planned on having those put in the truck, but had a case of the DA and got rid of the car. Big mistake!! Traded for a lemon with extra lemon. I thought it would be pretty cool to have a fuel injected 302 with computer and all in that truck.

Get in, turn key, burn a lil rubber, go.
Have a great Ford day!

Up to you... You could stay stock with the 240 and it would be a simple install. Or you could go with a little more pep in your step and drop that 351w in there with some modification. Personally, the more go, the better.

I'll probably need some money first. I think that's how it works...

Ship it to me so I can test it out and see if suits my needs... I'm not sure what stamps cost these days but I'm pretty sure I can afford two of them. Thanks in advance. :D

I pulled the 240/3 speed out of mine and picked up a roller cam 351w from the junkyard today to build a 408 stroker. Paint it Ford blue (including the aluminum heads) and it would be an awesome sleeper!

Might need at least one more stamp  In the meantime, check out Pinche's build. He's miles ahead of me. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 22&t=70469

How about a 300 six? No installation problems and lots more pulling power.
