The chicks don't dig it

Post by thejunkman »

So, I'll start out by saying I'm married, so my bump's job isn't picking up chicks. However, my wife and all the other women I know, don't seem to find my truck very interesting. Nor does it turn many female heads around town haha. Guys on the other hand are always asking about it, or giving me the thumbs up as I roar past. Do you guys notice the same thing? If my wife or a female friend sees a mustang, or Corvette go by they comment on what a cool car it is. But a built truck just doesn't do it for them? I wonder what it is? Perhaps male DNA has something different that loves trucks... Ive seen a few rare truck chicks at Carlisle and stuff. :hmm: Do any of you guys have ladies that "get it?"

Nope. My wife has always refused to ride in my truck. Of course, the fact it doesn't gave a/c (yet) in it probably didn't help. In the 10 years I've had it her rear end has been in it 4 times at the most. Its too hot/loud/rough/ugly/smelly for her.

Its funny.... my 67 Firebird convertible was a chick magnet and drew lots of attention. My 72 bump (when I had it) and 69 Crew bump get the attention from guys, but not even a second look from the females. My 67 Fairlane gets some looks from women, but not to the extent that a Carousel Red (hugger orange) convertible Firebird did. Of course, being married I don't really care about the female attention anymore either, but still. All of the old vehicles get the attention of men, but women, not so much.

My daughters 26 and 28 love to drive the beast because of the looks they get from guys, for just the reason that started this thread. A while back they were changing the oil and other periodic maintenance on their cars and needed stuff from the auto parts store when 2 guys pulled up next to them it a newer Power stroke and were so busy gawking they never noticed the light changed till my girls pulled away  they got a big kick out of the fact that someone in a $40K truck would be so interested in them as filthy as they were and in such an ugly truck..........I told them it was MY truck and not them that they guys were looking at  but I'm damn proud of the fact that they do the maintenance on theirs AND their boyfriend/husbands cars  I raised a couple of keepers IMHO

I think it depends a lot on where you live. Here in Colorado, the ladies in Denver may prefer more subtle rides, but those in the smaller towns and those in the Mountains will typicallt be more impressed by trucks (4x4's being the highest on the list!) I think it has to do with towing horse trailers, snow, mountain roads, and in general a more rural approach to life. I'd imagine the same would apply to Wyoming, Montana, etc.

My Lady friend rides in the 68. Does she really like it? No, but she likes the fact that I like it. Also she likes the rumble the exhaust makes.
My 84 year old Mother loves to ride in the 68. She always wants to ride in it when I take her out to eat a couple times a week.
My youngest daughter loves old trucks...She is 37.
That all being said, I have the 68 because I like it. Doesn't matter if anyone else does or not. :D

My ex wife loved my 71 bump and got a kick out of driving it. She helped me work on it as well so I think it just depends on what kind of woman you have for a wife or a girlfriend. My current girl likes the 67 I just bought so maybe there is hope for us truck guys lol 8)

My wife likes what she thinks my truck will become. Not real fond of what it is.

For my wife, it's all about color. Two identical vehicles painted different colors can be side-by-side and one is "cute" and one is "ugly". My wife also hates a "loud" car or truck. One of the conditions for my truck is that it's relatively quiet. So, it will be relatively quiet, for a 47 year old truck with a 408 stroker...... I am not giving in and painting it a "pretty color", though.

I'm blessed to have a gf that appreciates old trucks just as much as I do....but yea I would say most women don't care of old vehicles and especially old trucks.

Some get it, most don't. But I got an array of vehicles to fit any particular taste. Convertible? Check. Red mustang check. Trucks? Four! I'm still on the hunt for a 96 or 97 Ferrari F355 Spider with a six speed manual... red or yellow. It's gonna replace the Pontiac.

Yeah its the same for my wife. She says she likes the truck but shows zero interest in giving me her input of how it should look, its progress, or even riding in it. So i assume she says that to flatter me. I know for sure she likes the truck better then the fairlane before it. Cause she blatantly told me  But I'm okay with this though cause she supports my Hobby and shows interest in starting her own project but with a newer car.

The girls that truly like trucks are few and far between. My wife hates lifted 4x4s. She says they are douche bags with a wiener complex lol. But a truck in any form is functional, so it's boring to woman I think. A car like a mustang is made for one thing. Going fast. Like a crotch rocket. All woman like them. It's weird. Just my :2cents:
