If the truck is running and not blowing smoke, if it doesn't leave a multi-colored puddle where ever it goes, that's part of it.
I personally think "Attitude" has the most to do with it. Your attitude, (meaning all of us) your behavior, and your ability to keep it running right, turns on women.
My old beater truck did all the heavy work, never broke down, and helped everyone move at one time or another, got more praise and thumbs up than any newer truck I've owned.
In other words, if your not afraid to use it as it was built but still took care of it, your attitude shows it.

I've noticed that I get more looks in my ford than I do on my motorcycle (which is a crotch rocket). But then the truck is much louder than the bike

I think it has a lot to do with were you live and what kind of girl you happen to drive by. Here in Northwest Arkansas, trucks are everywhere. Trucks, trucks, trucks. Lots of trucks. You'll see more hot rodded and fixed up trucks here than you would cars for the most part. A lot of dents. Bumps are actually few and far between. Even fewer are taken care of and presentable. Which I like. Makes me stand out
I've caught a handful of stares from girls of all types overtime. A couple of smiles or winks at stoplights or drive-ins. Some girls are attracted to the rumble of an old V8 and a fixed up truck or car. And it also depends sometimes if they like what they see sitting in the truck
But then others wouldn't give a hoot because they simply don't care about vehicles.

My Missus loves my old '68. She is so proud that she can drive it, being its a "three on the tree". She has no idea how to drive a floor shift and has not interest in learning. I once suggested I might swap it out for an automatic. I almost got stabbed that night.

My girlfriend likes my 68. When I first got it, she thought it smelled funny and old. After changing out the seat and giving the inside a good cleaning she loves it. She has a little trouble driving it with no power steering but she likes riding it in.
