He built it one part at a time . . .

Post by 68RGR »

This one is on Craigslist. Seller claims it's a '72 . . . Might HAVE been but whoa! Long way from that now - Guess you could call it patriotic!

If you want to see the whole thirty-five-hundred-dollar Frank-N-Truck ad:

Check out the grille. And the steering column.

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in garages. (Apologies to Kenneth Grahame.)

If I wasn't stripping and priming the parts for mine, it would probably look about as bad... Orange passenger fender and tailgate, harbor blue over white driver fender, bed, and passenger door, green driver's door, aqua blue cab, maroon steering column, grey dash.....

What prompted this truck's creation was probably something like, "Honey, I want you to get all those cruddy pieces of truck off our lawn!"

I don't think this is a bad truck. The body is straight and i don't see any rust. Yea, It got 14 different colors of paint on it but a paint job would fix that. The A/C works so that a big plus IMO. I don't think the truck is worth $3500 but i can see where the owner has been swapping out parts for better ones. I've spent a lot of money on mine finding rust free straight parts. At least that PITA would already be done for the new owner.

It is an interesting critter to be sure, but what is actually made of?

The cab for example has what looks like camper special badges on the cowl and it has the snap buttons around the back window suggesting a camper box with a pass through opening. Notice the different colors involved with the steering column as well as the 3 spoke wheel and deluxe horn ring?

Image

It even has the red wire running across the cowl for the camper wiring. Also notice the transmission dipstick is really long, wonder if the motor / transmission came out of a van?

Image

The white lower valance is for a 70 and up, not one with the smaller cuts for the '69 grill's turn signals. Also notice the hood is from a '70 and up with the front molding and big letters.

So what was it built from?

It's built from chutzpah.

Seriously, it really looks to me like somebody took all the spare bits from other projects and cobbled together a working truck. Awe-inspiring and horrific, at the same time. I'm impressed.

I wonder if the seller works/owns/lives close to a junkyard?

This creation has been on and off Criaigslist for a while now lol. I agree with what one poster said as long as the parts are all rust free a shot of paint will make everything right  However, I also agree that it is not worth 3500. But it may be to someone someday
