Decisions Decisions

Post by skiziks »

Have not posted in a while but I am at a cross roads with my projects. Just building something fun to drive. Have a truck for transportation and hauling needs, these are just my toys.

I have a '74 Maverick 2 door without an engine or trans. Was a 6 cyl car but have all the stuff to install 302.

I have a '69 F100 Flare side with a 240 and a 3 speed manual that is running and driving.

Other parts I have are a freshly rebuilt 302, a C4, a T56 6 speed, a complete 8.8 rear end out of a SN95 Cobra and a complete 4.9 EFI I6 with AOD and all wiring out of a '90 F150.

Choose your own adventure!

302 with a 3 speed in the F100?

4.9 EFI with AOD in F100?

302 with C4 in Maverick?

4.9 EFI with AOD in Maverick?

240 and C4 in Maverick and 302 in truck?

Or??????

You make the call. What would you do?

Thanks in advance for any and all input!

If you can make it happen then I'd put the t56 behind the 302 and stick it in the maverick. A 6 spd maverick would be a blast  . Lot of work though. Then when you are done with the car put the 4.9 in the truck. Pick your poison on the tranny.

A Maverick would have been a 250 or 200 six (Probably a 250 in 74) which is not the same as a 240/300, they are commonly referred to as "small six" and "big six".

I don't think a big six will fit in a Maverick.

So I vote for 302/6speed maverick and 4.9efi truck...

The big six will fit in the Maverick. www.fordsix.com The efi manifold will probably have to go. I still think the 302 and 6spd in the Mav. and efi/aod in the truck.

Thanks for all the input and ideas.

I just picked up a run stand from a friend and with a little luck and a lot of work I should have the 302 on the run stand and ready to break in later this week or early next.

Then I am going to mate it to the c4 and drop it in the Mav so I can get that car on the road. I have had it for over 2 years and it has never run or been driven by me. I will then start the collection to rig up the hydraulic clutch and put the T56 in as a phase 2 on that project.

With the F100 I think I will drop the 4.9 EFI into it and build up a nice driver out of it. I need to do the front cab mounts and while I am there I will drop in a Crown vic front end. I am going to find a good truck 5 speed to put behind the 4.9.

Since the truck is currently running it will have to wait for the first phase of the Mav to be done before I get back to working on the truck.

At least I can drive the truck around a little now.

Thanks again for your valuable input.
