Looks like the spring washer from behind the turn signal switch?

That's what I was thinking too I remembered from my steering column disassembly a few weeks ago. It will be this weekend though before I am back up to my shop so I can measure it.

I tried the Tech pages on steering column but could not locate the washer in the breakdown of column. I'm puzzled !

To be perfectly honest, when I rebuilt my columns, a 3spd and an automatic, I don't recall ever having one but according to this thread http://fordification.com/forum/viewtopi ... d1d13ec5a4 another member's was broken when he disassembled his column. I'm thinking it's #7C228 on the right, slightly above center, of this diagram, maybe? http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... column.jpg

That diagram suggests it sits *behind* the shifter housing? Maybe that's why I've never seen it...I did do the turn signal replacement and never saw that.

edit: n/m...I just read Green's post in that old thread. :yt:

Here is a pick I took of mine a few weeks ago when I disassembled mine. Hoping it would help remind me where the heck it went when I try to get this all back together... :P
It is about 1-3/4" diameter with an 1/8" face. It goes over the shift column and provides a little tension pushing against the face of the column housing and the shift collar. Actually fits over the inside lip of the shift collar that goes over the shift tube.
