We are probably almost all guilty of talking on the cell phone. I pull over when I can and never dial out when moving. I think they should outlaw them with a vengance. They do cause more accidents than drunks. I constantly see people yapping on the phone who don't obey the laws and aren't paying attention. One lady here killed three of her kids a couple months ago while using the phone.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

For those of you with a lot of money (10K+) in your trucks do you have them insured for what they are really worth? How would an insurance company determine the actual value (like ebay value) to decide if the truck was totaled?

With that kind of money involved I think you need classic car insurance. Otherwise all you'll probably get is blue book.
A guy I knew had a '58 F-100. Some gal pulled out into the street and plowed right into the side of his truck. He came out of that pretty good, he paid $400 for the truck and the insurance company gave him something like $2,200 for it. He found out later that if he could have kept the truck for the price of the junk value which was only like $75 or $100 so he kicked himself for not keeping it. It was repairable, but the insurance co just wanted to write it off as totaled.

That sucks,Redcap...Hope it works out ok...Don't take the insurance company's first offer and DON'T threaten them with a lawyer unless you actually plan on using one...You can negotiate with some adjusters...Talk to their guy handling your case and be firm---but nice...
You all will have to excuse me now---I have to hit the 'submit' button on my laptop so I can throw my cigarette out before I change lanes and answer my cell phone without spilling my drink

Sorry to hear this Redcap! Why do hazardous drivers always pick nice classics for targets when it comes time for them to take out an innocent victim? At least no one ended up hospitalized.

Sorry!!! What a bummer!!!
I'd get quotes from the high $$$ body shops too. That may give you some ammo for the insurance co.

Guys, I appreciate the support! I'm stuck waiting on her insurance adjuster to call me, but I'm positive they will total the Blue Beast based on the conversations of 3 different body shop owners and my current boss, who was a body man for the last 20 years.
I know I promised pictures, but my girlfriend has managed to lose her digital camera CF card, so I'm screwed for a few days until I can buy a new one.

always take pictures of your vewhicles when you buy and when you have the restored. this way the insurance company can say the beforew and after and realize that you are the innocent one.
