I bought back my old camper spcecial.

Post by SecondCamperSpecial »

I built this truck around 25 years ago. I bought it back sight unseen. Did not pay much. Bought it back to save a few pieces. Wow I cant believe it got this bad. It hasent been on the road in 10 plus years. The rear sway bar I installed was gone. Really wanted that back. Half of the trim is destroyed. Some of it was NOS when I installed it, Door panels I had custom covered and seat are saveable. I still has the back gas tank which is good because mine is leaking. Wind shield is good. Some chrome is saveable. The chrome on the bed tie downs is not pitted too bad and only one of the clearance lights are cracked. It has factor dice brakes which I will be selling. I installed newer ones on mine. Every piece of sheet metal is shot. I was hoping the hood was good. Has anyone ever piece a hood together. Back of my hood is bent and front of this hood is bubbling.I am going to get i started and see how it runs. I am in luck. ALL the factory A/C is still intact including the fan shroud. :D

Got a chance to look at the old girl today. Sad. My son pulled the seat and gas tank out to remove the seat belts to install in my 68 a couple of months ago., That was only thing I have done.Today I installed a battery with positive cable and some fresh gas and It cranked it up. No spark. Sanded the brand new points and pumped the gas and she started up. Ran it for about ten minutes and has too much blow by. Going to do a compression test this week. I sold it with a weak cylinder 25 years ago and hoped some one replaced the engine in all this time. Dont look like it. Going to pull engine and trans any way. Over the next couple of weeks we are going to pick her to the bone. What is left I will post for sale./ Right now I am not sure how much we will use but she is giving her life for 3 others.
