Growing up I ran into a few builders that would have a fit if you didn't chop it like they did. I have done the two roof deal a few times as well as laying the rear glass in cars almost flat. There is no right or wrong way to me but it's funny how other builders get bent over it. Really matter with what you are building too.fbomber100 wrote:as the old saying goes theres more than one way to skin a cat .Just like theres more then one way to chop a top..
I like to see how this turns out...

One of the bobbed and sectioned bedsides are spot welded together. Kind of strange looking without the bodyline.

Here you can see the slice to ease the top out. 99 % of the time the top is not going to fit width wise. You have to make relief cuts to get the top to give a little to line up.
That relief cut was enough to get the bottom pulled out to lock it in place for welding.

Z'ing the frame.
We are ditching the 8' bed and going with a 6' bed. To get the 24" out why not Z the frame to make the back 6" lower? 16" will be taken out forward of the wheels and the rest will be bobbed off the tail. I lucked out and the holes in the frame where right on 16". Made it pretty easy.

4 3/4 inches out of the roof. 4 inches out of the body and 6 inch drop in the rear due to the z'd frame. She's getting lower! I still have plenty to do to the suspension to drop it so it will be lower.

Cool build, there's nothing like living the "Low Life"! Are you planning on running bags or are you going to run it on springs?

I have to say, this will be the first bumpless bumpside I have ever seen! Really curious to see what it looks like when done. I just cant imagine our trucks without the bumpside.
