No pics today. Just boring words. I have the diff cleaned and primed. Working on the backing plates next. As soon as my leaf spring bushings come in I can have those pressed out/in, then paint the spring packs, diff & misc hardware and get the suspension back on. After that the brake lines and brakes themselves. I found problems in one of my drum brakes. It was missing the lower return spring and the parking brake cable spring is broken. So I will be getting complete hardware and a wheel end p-brake cable. An EZ 21 wire kit should be arriving Wed. or Thurs.

I'm pretty sure a coil spring is the worst thing to try to paint, lol.

There are milestones in projects, today was one of them. Assembly has started. :D I wanted a rolling chassis by the end of today, but oh well. I'm waiting on two bearings, 4 races and both calipers.

EZ-21 Wiring kit came this week :D I like it! Going to be fun putting it in and wiring it up.

Some more painted parts. These shot were yesterday.

Next pics are from an hour ago....I need to buy some new leaf U-bolts. These spring packs are much thicker and my bolts only thread on about half the threads. We be getting those this week.

Also this week I start cleaning and preping a set of black parts. Brake and fuel lines, radiator support, inner fenders, fender brackets, hood hinges and more.

:woohoo:

I ordered brake tubing and fittings today. As I was cleaning them I got worried about the pitting. The clincher was when one line grabbed the wire wheel and wrapped it's self around the motor.

So I am waiting on calipers, two bearings, 4 races and a brake line kit.

After killing the brake line I got to work on the cab. Striped the rest of the dash wiring, brake booster, pedals and column out. Started scraping the fire wall and under sides, followed by wire wheel then a sanding disk. Dug out old seam sealer and caulking. General rough prep.

I am strongly considering having the 3.54's put in very soon, along with a LSD or locker. I have a line on a good used Detroit for $350. The 3.73's that are in there now are in really good shape though. Maybe I can just have another rear end built with the locker and 3.54's :hmm:

That red looks great! You'll have to give us a review of the wiring harness. I'll be looking at getting one next year.

Thanks Guys! 67nukeford, I may tackle making a schematic to not only document what's up within my truck, but also to help others such as yourself :D

I've been using up a lot of Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. Got the Cab shot in ERE, then did some seam sealing. I have also fiber glassed the cancer area of the passenger side air inlet. I don't mind glassing a repair like that.

Mid morning I will be spraying Eastwood's 2 part Epoxy primer inside and out :D

This pic was taken just before the last cup was sprayed. See the clutch rod hole in the floor? Anyone know where I can find a plug? LMC and DC don't carry them for bumps apparently.

Field expedient air box fix. I also painted the inside of the box with glass resin for additional protection. Figured it wouldn't hurt.
