1/2 ton camper special rims

Post by junkyardjeff »

I know there are wider 3/4 ton c/s rims but were there ever any wider 1/2 ton c/s rims,I found some 1/2 GM c/s rims on craigslist but wodering if Ford made any. I am in the process of converting my 66 F250 into a 1/2 ton and would love to have a pair if some were ever made.

Um, did they make a 1/2 ton Camper Special? I thought that was a 3/4 ton package...possibly a 1 ton also, but I do not think I have ever seen an F-350 Bump with a Camper Special badge. I know I have never seen an F-100 Camper package.

Always looking to learn something new.

I do not know if you are trying to stay with stock rims...but if you want deeper rims, you can get brand new deep dish white spokes for a reasonable price, or find other wheels used (Craigslist or wrecking yard) that would work. I personally do not like to run stock wheels, my single F-100 has 10" wide Gambler II aluminum wheels on it. But if you are going down the restoration path, I wish you well.

Cheers.

Yep, my '67 was an F100 Camper Special. Had regular 1/2 ton wheels though.

I am thinking I should have used a 73-9 9 inch and had the spring perches rewelded to fit my 66,the 67 to 72 9 inch looks too narrow in it.

I think the F100 CS was fairly stock as far as suspension and tires. Those were meant for the shells which
didn't weigh a whole lot compared to the bigger campers.

I put one of my broncos 8 inch wide rims with 31-10.5 tires and filled up the wheel well nicely so I ordered a pair of 8 inch rims with the same back spacing.

A picture paints a thousand words:

What I like about the 67 F100 Camper Special is that the owner absolutely did not need any stinkin' right-hand mirror to see around a camper shell wider than his cab!

Now that is a brave trucker!
