tech article on disc brakes
So I read the tech article on putting 73-79 discs on the bump sides and I'm confused. To try to simplify my question... I have a 69 f100... If I find a 73 or 74 donor truck do I still have to switch the i-beams?

I used '74 disc brake spindles and all I did was swap out spindles, dust shields and brake hose brackets. Used my existing I-beams and had the king pins/bushings replaced in the '74 spindles and all new rubber bushings in the front suspension while I was at it.wndsofchng06 wrote:So I read the tech article on putting 73-79 discs on the bump sides and I'm confused. My bad. I somehow overlooked the fact that he already read the tech article.

No. You don't have to change the beams and radius arms on a '65-'72 F-100, if you're using everything (from the spindle outward) from a '73/'74 F-100.
However, unless you have replaced the kingpins/bushings, radius arm bushings and I-beam bushings, you're still going to have to pull these components loose to replace those items --or, at least you should pull them to replace those items, if not done previously.
This is just a personal preference but, I think the '73-'79 radius arms look better than the '65-'72s.
