Adding power booster to manual drum brakes.

Post by OLDYELLAR68 »

Hello All,

I am thinking of adding a power brake booster to my 68 F100 which currently has manual drum brakes. Is this just a matter of finding a booster, bracket, and pushrod, bolting it in, then running a vacuum line to the intake manifold? Also I have been looking at brake line kits at Inline Tube, and noticed there are two different kits for a truck with power brakes VS manual brakes for my truck. Does anyone know what is different about the brake lines between the two? Any info. would be appreciated.

Yes. Booster brackets and vaccum line as well as firewall seal.

Brake lines will be slightly longer for the lines going from master to distribution block.

Thanks Fordman,

That makes perfect sense, as the master cylinder will be farther from the firewall with the addition of the vacuum booster. I will be sure to grab the firewall seal along with the rest of the booster parts too. Thanks Again.
