Thanks Bobby. Looking at conversion kits to power disc brakes. Is the one from Master Power Brakes ( almost $1400 not including master and booster ) that much better than the one from LMC ( $900 including master and booster ) ?

Want to use quality products since we are going to the trouble, but do not want to spend without benefit.

Suggestions / feedback is appreciated.

Please provide a link to what u r talking about. Sounds way off for a couple of bushing or king pins.

Craig, I think he's talking about an aftermarket disc set up that bolts to drum spindles.


Spack65, you can get the parts off of a 73-79 F100 for A LOT cheaper. That's what I installed on my truck. They bolt on to your I-beams

And was also going to point him to used parts. But i have made mistakes before.

So what parts specifically did you use from the donor truck? In reading the link you sent to me it seems the only thing used from the donor was the spindle assy. Did you use the donors rotor and caliper?

You can use EVERYTHING from a 73-79 F100. Booster, master, prop valve, spindles, rotors, calipers, dust shields, caliper hoses, etc.
I recommend buying new bearings, seals, hoses, etc. as opposed to using the used parts.
Yours is a 71 so it should already have the correct brake caliper hose brackets.
I went with an aftermarket booster and master because my truck has aftermarket tall valve covers and I would have had clearance issues with the booster.
