Just installed a reverse osmosis water filter system underneath my parents sink. They have a ceramic plated cast iron sink. This thing was a beast to drill. This is how i drilled through 1 inch of cast iron and ceramic on top. Got my dad's ancient black and decker high power drill - back when they made stuff that actually works awesome. I got a 3/8s masonry bit. placed the masonry bit where i wanted to add the faucet tap. i lightly tapped with a hammer to pit the ceramic. I think installed the bit and drilled away. while drilling i constantly sprayed water to minimize chipping and keep the bit cool. After the ceramic had drilled away to the first bit of cast iron i switched to a larger titanium bit for drilling metal. It took 1 hour of drilling. time may vary depending on the drill i guess. I would drill this time until the bit would get hot, then place the bit under the faucet and turn on to cool the bit. I did this about 5 times and punched through.
Installed a crystal quest reverse osmosis water filter system. not the worst and not the best. just middle of the road undersink performance.
have any of you seen the hydrogen infused water distillers that pull water from the air? hory mory they are expensive

Re: Reverse Osmosis Water Filter Fun
Have never drilled threw a cast iron sink but being in the custom cabinetry biz i have taken a few out of it's hole and them things are HEAVY. People pay big bucks these days just to have one in there new [censored].
