Bleeder won't stop leaking

Post by AZf100 »

I Installed a disc brake conversion about a year ago, and I have a bleeder that wont stop leaking. I've replaced the bleeder because the bottom seemed to be flat compared to the new one, it seemed to help but still leaking. I"m not sure where the seal is taking place but its leaking out of the center not the threads. Before replacing the caliper is there anything else I can try.

There is usually a soft brass insert in the bleeder hole that the bleeder screw seats and seals to. Maybe it is missing.

I went through 2 sets of 'rebuilt' calipers before going with a different manufacturer that rebuilt them correctly.
The caliper castings were damaged where the bleeder seats.
Tried new bleeders, backing off and re-tightening, everything.

Another set of calipers may be in your future

That's What I'm Thinking, Is there a specific brand or auto parts store you finally went with? I Would live for this to be over.

The brand was FENCO, but I am north of the border, and I am not sure where they distribute.

Just went through the same thing over the last week. Replaced both calipers on my 69 F250. One side no problem. The left side continued to leak at bleed screw. Loosened and retightened bleed screw thinking that would help. No help. Replaced bleed screw. Still leaked. Took caliper off and returned it to NAPA. They got me a new one. Just put it on last night and so far so good. Incidentally, I think the left and right can be swapped if you swap the mounting bracket end for end and swap bleed screw and hose connections. That's my observation for what it's worth.
