Grease's short & wide - '72 bumpside

Post by Grease Monkey »

Happy Thanksgiving! Just thought I'd post a few pics of my progress so far on this old Ford.

I got the truck with a blown 302, and the PO had started pulling trim and patching rust in prep for a paint job. This pic is while engine was out, pressure washing engine compartment, crossmembers etc.

Got a junkyard 302 in and running good, new master cylinder & power brake booster, overhauled the drums all around. I patched the holes in the lower front fenders that the PO had cut out in prep for patch & paint, then wet sanded all the grey primer off.

I found a nice, straight front bumper at the local LKQ yard. I also put all the trim back on, (except for the bump trim) and got all lights working, inside and out.

About it for now, waiting on my king pin bushing kit, trying to find a king pin bushing reamer.......

Thanks IN2FORD. Got the dream beams on today. Still have shackles to put on the rear to take out some of the rake. 8" Wheel Vintiques for the rear are on the way.

Thanks guys
Finally got paint on the rear wheels today. We've been putting in a lot of hours at work, probably won't get to have the tires mounted until next Sat. I'll post more pics then.

I haven't posted in a while..... been putting some miles on the old girl. It's become our family weekend cruiser, (my 3yo daughter loves riding in it as much as I do), and I drive it to work about once a week or so.
Lately I have added peep mirrors, a rear roll pan, correct factory am radio and cigarette lighter to the dash, and new gaskets for windshield and rear window. Patching the floorpans will be next...... Followed by replacing steering column bearings and new seals for the steering box, while swapping to earlier three spoke steering wheel. Will try and post more pics soon!

On the inside, I swapped to the earlier three spoke wheel.

Found the wheel, original am radio and cigar lighter on ebay. Got a dome light lense and a few other items from lmc.

Future plans call for a roller cam 302 H.O., and I may put a coat of satin green on her so it's all one color one day...
