Today, I'm glad it's a short bed. Taking the bed off alone is a pain. Got the doors off and glass out, all the rubber stripped and sanding work done.

I'm going with a metalic gun metal gray base coat, jet black for the bump and champion white for the interior. White inside because I live in southern Az and when it's 112 outside you can imagine the temp inside with a dark color.

Well, I dont have pics yet because it was too dark by the time I got done. Everything but the hood is done for the exterior. Beds bolted on with some roll on bed liner.

The hood will be the tricky part. It has 3 broadhead holes through it. When I was keeping it at my folks house my pops thought it would make a good backstop for his archery range. :nono:

Oh well. Makes for a good story.

Back to work tomorrow...

A few more pics of the progress. Got the motor and transmission in. Front end is pretty and lined up. Emblems polished and painted.

Tomorrow will be the motors first start up and if that goes well I'll get the interior put back together. I'm still looking for a newer (early 90's) bench seat but the Arizona sun has just about cooked everything around.

Well, I got "done" with her about 3 months ago. A little over budget (shhhh don't tell my wife) and under the timeline. 33 days of solid solo labor.
After her first oil change in a few decades she is running strong and a true pleasure to drive. Feels just like it did when my brother had her. For my first drive my wife bought me the song "I drive your truck" and I'd be lying if I said I made it further than a 1/4 mile before I was sobbing so bad I had to pull over.

I thank all of you for your loads of insight help and especially the wiring diagrams. You guys made the process that much more enjoyable.

Wow, excellent job, that turned out great! Awesome that you could get a truck that means so much to you back on the road and looking so good!

Beautiful truck and great job! And I know the song well and can only imagine... Im sure you will take great care of that truck and it will never leave your possession. The sentiment is worth more than the steel.
