Dually front discs...

Post by Ranchero50 »

Well poop. Last year when I got my F350 on the road the front passenger side caliper stuck. Exercised it and got it working and this past week it stuck again. Did the parts search and found calipers with a limited lifetime warranty at Autozone for $50. Figured I'd get the pair and found that the drivers side is no longer available. OK, what's the value in a warranty if you can't get replacement parts? Still, the trucks sitting in the way so a caliper is on the way. From what I've found this Dayton caliper was only used from '68-71 and the rotor was used through '75. My rotor's are pitted and should be replaced. Rotor on A/Z's site says limited stock and then no more. I'll also have to figure out how the rotor is attached to the dually hub. :?

So the dilemma is do I try to find newer parts or just replace what I have a pray I don't have more problems or find something newer that can be fitted in place now. These things are getting scarce in the yards anymore and the F250 calipers are smaller.

Welp, this is starting to suck. Went through Autozone for the 5% cash back thing on the card and the caliper they gave me for the pass side is actually the right sides... Called NAPA this morning and they could have one by 1pm. Just woke up and stopped by. Yep, another drivers side one. They had to order a drivers one from Ohio which the picture showed as my passenger side one.

I think I'm going to install the new pad and see if that makes it better. Momma is expecting the truck to pick up a new dining room table tonight 30 miles from home...
