How do you protect your engine/parts from theft?

My buddy had a chain and padlock on his 72. I just can't remember what/how/where he had it hooked up. I'm worried about the msd box and carb specifically. That is for quick, spontaneous thieves.

I was thinking a cable with a llock looped through the hood somewhere and back down and locked wrapped around the frame, so I could unlock it right under the bumper?

The p.o. of my truck concocted something like 460 Crew described---and it was the first thing I removed....If I didn't throw it out you can have it---I keep my truck in the garage

...I can also send you my bad hood hinges with the worn springs--the ones that hold the hood up low enough so the thieves will bang their head on the latch every time they try to pull something out from under the hood....

you can get a hood lock. I have one. I will see if I can get a picture of it. It goes around the latch and around valence area, I forget exacly how. Its very small, just a solid bar that is bent.

I "threaded" a length of chain through the front of the hood channel. Then I lower the hood and bring the chain through the top of the latch hole and padlock it to the front of the center support bracket of the grill. Make sense? Maybe not, but it works fine as long as you don't have the 70 grill.

When Mine had to sit out side during my bronco's V8 swap... I took a cable for locking up a bike, ran it through the hood bracing, down and looped around the frame behind the bumper. Then pad locked it.

I've been meaning to get one of those 12ga anti theft devices though...

Here's what I did years and years ago, although my lawyer said I could be sued. I super glued straight razor blades under the lip of the hood. It only took one week for the blood trail to show up and I didn't have anymore trouble after that and removed the blades with acetone. I even saw the neighbor from two blocks up the street with all the bandages on his fingers.

Naturally I had to remember not to cut myself to ribbons that whole time too.
