Interesting Sandblaster

Saw this link from another site. It was the one about the rebuild of a mini.

This was the sandblaster that he was recomending and I was wondering if anyone had used or even seen this one before?

I've never seen one just like that, but if you kept your sand clean and dry, I don't see any reason it wouldn't work just fine!

Don't even consider it! Siphon blasters suck.....and more figuratively than literally! You need to get a pressure blaster, something with a pressurized tank. Those siphon blasters just don't put out enough air pressure to really work well.

Here is the one I am using. It works really well. I just had to order some tips this week though. No biggie, but kinda slowed me down. I actually had a few hours to play.

That's the exact same one I use, and while it's inexpensive, it gets the job done nicely. Mine's about worn out though, about time to buy another. I've been using the HECK out of mine.

or you could make your own....heres a picture...i have more if youd like..let me know if you want some instructions or something and ill work on it for you...works great by the way...

I have the Harbor Freight version also. I live near the coast of North Carolina and we have a lot of humidity, which makes it hard to keep sand really dry. Mine works well if I reach over and shake it from time to time. Seems the air flow draws sand faster than it can funnel down. I've been thinking about something to attach to it that will vibrate it continuously. Any ideas??

Also, the control valves that came with it don't seem to shut off fully. (I know they're made in China). Any ideas where I can get better quality ball valves?

Well, given that we had the hand cart and the compressor tank just laying around here, all we had to do was get the hoses and valves and such...and then make some simple modifications to the compressor tank..so total i believe it was around $50...if my memory serves me correctly

How big of tank did you use?

The compressor tank is about 20 gallons..lasts a pretty good amount of time..

I'd be interested in the parts list and plumbing diagram on that thing. I have a smaller tank that I could use and my old siphon cut-off valve might work..............

Great thread,as I need to do some blasting myself......Wondering what the best medium is for plain old removing rust...like from hood hinges.Anything better than sand??Also.......can't find any INSTRUCTIONAL material on sandblasting...so what are the key things to know????Thanks

About 25 years ago my Brother and I had a 90lb Craftsman Gravity/Hopper Unit. We used the hell out of it!

It's been 15 years since I last used it and I'm still shaking sand out of my head!!!
