Leaf Spring Bolt

Post by marvin2 »

I snapped one of my rusty leaf spring bolts during disassembly years ago. I've looked numerous times and have ordered several bolts, but cannot seem to find a correct replacement. Does anyone have info on where to find this bolt?

Thanks!

Are you talking about the one that holds the leaf pack together? If so I have seen them at the spring shops here in Fort Worth. I have used a grade 8 3/8 bolt when I was in a pinch rounded the head a little.

It's called a leaf spring center bolt. IIRC, I bought something like these, http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detai ... &ppt=C0361 installed and torqued them, then just cut off the excess flush with the nut, leaving just a hair above the nut. After cutting I smacked the end with a hammer so the nut couldn't come off. The ones I bought came from Husky Spring but I can't seem to find a link to them now. The one above will work just fine. See page 3 in my build thread.

I'm looking for the bolt that goes through the bushing sleeve and connects the leaf spring to the frame.

Sargentrs: it's the bolt from page 4 of your build, where you had to use the C clamp to run it through.

Thanks guys!

I bought my replacements online at McMaster Carr. Don't remember the exact length but since the OEM is an odd length, I ordered the next size up that was about 1/8" longer. Bought the obround lock nuts too.
