255/70R15 tires on 15x8" wheels OK on all 4 corners?
Hello,
I'm just about ready to order to order tires & wheels for my '69 F100 Custom Cab project...I did some research on the site, but I'm still not 100 percent sure... I want to get 15X8" wheels with 255/R7015 all the way around. It's a stock short bed... shouldn't be any problem in back, but will that extra width rub in front?
Thanks!

...LOL, don't everyone try to reply at once!
I headed up the shop that has my truck this afternoon, and I don't think there's any clearance issue; I guess it would come down to the finer details. I don't know squat about "offset". I know I want to get Cragar S/S wheels 15" X 8", with the 5 x 5.5" bolt pattern...but what about "offset"? By the way, I don't think it matters, but I'm still planning on wrapping those wheels with B F Goodrich T/A RWL tires, 255/70R15. (By the way, the $50 rebate ends on 9/27, so I'm trying to figure it out in a hurry!)
Thanks!!

You'll be fine. I'm running 265/75-15's all around on mine, stock ride height. Even bigger than yours and have never had an issue. I don't know what the stock offset is, I'm running some 80's stock Dodge truck rims.

I've got 255/70/15's on 8" smoothies 4" offset and backspace. Rear no prob. Front, I notice shiny marks where it has scrubbed I beams, but never noticed while driving. With my wheels, I could not go with 275's without spacers.

I really appreciate the information; I've got my 255/70R15 Goodrich T/A tires & Cragar S/S 15" X 8" wheels on order, the project is seriously underway!

Will work fine. Was a very popular tire/wheel size back in the 80's. Also 275/60-15 will work front and back on 8's. Assuming it's not lowered in the front

Just some random info we found out while switching our 1969 to a 1978 9" rear. The track width is 4" narrower on the rear vs the front on bump f100s.
So you should really never have a problem with rear clearance. Never found anyone that could tell me why ford did this. Chevy did it also on some 70's and 80s trucks.
Also could you do me a huge favor???
If you have a 4x4.
Could you take a picture of the track bar where it mounts to the frame??? (only if its a non modified track bar mount.)
I switched to a 1978 track arm and it looks like it is going to hit the frame with too much up travel in the front suspension.

Those narrow rear ends really make em look weird if you are following one. But allow you to fit 10 inch rims in the back.

My 72 is lowered and running standard 15" rims with 255/70/15 radial T/A's, I'm hoping to go with cragar delux 8" fronts and 10" backs with the same tyres can anyone see any issues?

Re: 255/70R15 tires on 15x8" wheels OK on all 4 corners?
I used to run 275/60R15 on all 4 corners with no trouble on 8" rims. When I ran 31X 10.50 on 10" rims on back they would rub the inside of wheel well when Loaded heavily. IF you don't have power steering, you'll build some serious muscle turning at slow speed. My dad officially refused to drive mine it was so hard. With a clutch you can just rock it a little and turn when moving.

Hi All,
I drifted away from the Forum for awhile, but just wanted to say that the Cragar S/S & B F Goodrich Tire combo I mentioned above looks good and seems to be working well. The truck doesn't get out too much (I'll be working on it forever, it seems!), but I've had very nice compliments already. Also, if my memory serves me, the height of the new tires is within 0.2" of the original factory tires, so the stance is the same (which I like -- I didn't want to either raise or lower the truck). I do have power steering, and I can definitely see where it would be a bear to steer at low speed with the additional width!

I've got my 255/70/15's mounted on 8" & 10" cragar delux's and they fit fine. Would maybe go for 235's up front if I was changing tyres though.

I have 275/60/15 all the way around on 8" smoothies with 4" back space. They leave shiny marks on rear frame, and will scrub in front if you hit a pot hole hard low speed. Don't hit pot holes.......
