crown vic/mustang swap
I have just put a 2005 crown vic front suspension into my 69 f100 and am planning on using the motor, transmission and computer/wiring out of a 2006 mustang. My question is about brakes. The mustang donor I have has wilwood brakes that I would like to use, will they work on the crown vic? And my other question is can I or should I use the ABS system out of the mustang? The computer and wiring will already be there but I am not sure if it is needed or wanted.

Hey there, Fun swap you are working on, check out my build thread if you want some in depth info on the mustang rear and crown vic front. The wilwood caliper will not bolt directly to the spindle of the crown vic, I am sure that you could machine or maybe find an adapter to get the wilwood caliper on the crown vic spindle but sourcing the proper rotor might be a challenge. Was it a big brake kit that is on there or OEM size?
You are also going to need to figure out a booster/master cylinder setup as the one out of the s197 will not work with the f100 firewall nicely, I looked into doing it and it just made no sense.
You would have a pretty hard time getting the ABS to work in the truck, its not impossible at all but would over complicate the build in my opinion. especially since you are mismatching so many different components, years, parts and pieces that getting the mechanical and electrical components to work together would be pretty tough. It would also add to the complexity of the swap trying to use the wiring harness for the ABS, it requires a lot of wiring for the ABS. Would be pretty awesome if you could make it work well.

Re: crown vic/mustang swap
Thanks for the info. Yes it is a big brake set up, Shelby edition 4 piston calipers and oversized vented rotors, I will manage to get them on there somehow. I doubt I will try the ABS stuff, I agree it seems like a lot of headache for not a lot of payoff. I will have plenty of wiring issues without adding that but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. So the crown vic front is complete and starting on the rear end, will the mustang rear end work? I know it's a little narrower. If it won't will parts from it work in the crown vic housing? Maybe the drop in or the brakes?

Re: crown vic/mustang swap
My research shows me that it is 65.5" wide. It all depends on what kind of offset you are planning on running on your wheels, how low you want it and how aggressive of a fitment you are willing to take on. Also wheel width takes a toll on this.
I am running two totally different rearends in two crown vic swapped trucks. 1981 f-100 31 spline 9" in my nice truck and a 2012 mustang GT rearend in my beater track truck. They both have 10" wide rear wheels and big tires. 295/35/20 on one and 275/35/18 (too small) on the other truck. Let me see if I can snag a couple of photos of the wheels and offset.
I love my 2012 rearend and rear suspension and would do it again in a heartbeat. I kept the 3 link and panhard bar setup and made it work in the truck. Zero regrets doing it that way. My truck is low though just FYI.

Good Wheel shot here

The other truck....

With some new GT500 brakes on the back now too =)

Not trying to derail your thread just giving you some opinions and information. I have messed around with wheel, tire, crown vic and mustang stuff a lot in these trucks.
Post up a build thread when you have time.
