Rear Brake Bellcranks

Post by Texasknowhow »

Guys, I'm rebuilding a 2000 Ford Explorer 3.73 Limited slip diff rear end and I can't seem to find a couple of parts anywhere! I'm in need of the park brake bellcranks - these are the little levers that expand your two parking brake shoes when the cable pulls them forward. These little levers are two part and should pivot with some built in restriction; but mine are permanently frozen up and I've tried everything to free them up. If I put them in a vice and hit them with a hammer I can move them. Does anyone know where I can get new ones? I can't see any part numbers on them. I've looked everywhere online.... I thought Tasca Parts would surely have them, but can't find on their web page or any of the parts break-down pictures.

Help me out guys!

Thanks in advance for any help guys, Clay

Hey Bronco_77! Glad the videos are helping you out man. I figured these things out yesterday!!! They were really just rusted together and after some more penetrating oil and WD-40, I put them in a vise and started trying to move the pivot joint. Slowly they started moving back and forth and then just freed up. I lubed them and they seem to be fine now. I just didn't work them hard enough the first time round thinking they would break. I guess I got to the point that if they broke, they broke. I was looking for new ones anyway, right...? But these are usable now for sure. More videos coming on the '67 soon. Welding those plates in the front frame to box it, finishing the rearend re-build, sandblasting the leaf spring packs and more. Take care man. Clay
