automatic steering column problems

i recently got a 67' f100 and my automatic column shifter can shift out of park to drive find , out of park to reverse doesn't happen, park to drive and any other gear after drive is find but can't go back in to park or reverse, is my column broke? can it be repaired? the tranny is find when shifted in to gear by hand in the engine compartment any one had this type of problem? this site is sick?!

Probably your shift selector bracket. It's the rectangular metal bracket on the bottom in the below pic. It's purpose is to provide for the detent to hold the shifter in position when selecting gears. Unfortunately, it's on the back side of the tube flange so you'll have to disassemble the top part of your steering column to get to it. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... hp?t=72274 Might also just be the plastic shift selector needle. May be broken and wedging something when you got to shift to park.
