I recently squired a 1971 f100 with power brakes and power steering. The brakes were kind of sketchy to say the least. Someone had put all new pads on it but the brake pedal would go to the floor just about. I changed the master cylinder and the front LEFT brake hose (it was new but the wheels they had used was rubbing it and started to cut through)
Since then , They all work except the front left. I had bled it multiple times. Changed the hose again, and put a new wheel cylinder in. Before I take the proportioning valve apart, does anyone have a suggestion which direction I should go?
Thanks
Tracy

If it bleeds, there's not a blockage in the proportioning valve (which balances the front to rear, not side to side).
I'd pop the wheel / drum off and verify the brakes are assembled correctly. You can then have someone gently push the brakes and see if the cylinder is pushing the shoes out. Most likely you'll find that the wheel adjuster is just too loose. I always sharpen the edge of the kick pawl so it'll engage the star wheel and not slide off like they do with a rounded edge and not adjust the brakes.
Oh, BTW

t I will double check the assembly. I actuall turn the adjuster to the point I can barely turn the wheel just to see whats going on, and no change.
I will keep you posted
Thanks!

Re: no left front brake
Finally got back at it, been really busy at work and honey dos
Found the problem. It was my new wheel cylinder. It was just pumping out fluid!
I saw this mentioned before, but if you go to certain Napa stores, they can pull their parts from anywhere, so you don't always get Napa parts. Went to a big store, got a new one and I can stop. Man that's nice.
