Update on the heads. Called a cpl places. 1st guy is the guy im going with.
$500.
Other person quoted me $750-$950. Full rebuild.
Hes on the same cross street i live so thats good. Lol.

Hopefully today I can get pics of the motorcraft 2barrel carb I rebuilt on here.
Got lots of used parts sitting around and probably more when im said and done.

Today I ordered up new carb. It said it was new on the ebay site but when I looked at the reviews. One person said it was a rebuild. We will see. Its a holly. Ill post up a link.
Today also on the order was a tranny pan. Black with a drain. New tranny pan bolts and a new B&M shifter kit for mounting the linkage to the tranny.
Hopefully when I get all that installed, I wont have any tranny drips. Also I wanna replace the output shaft seal.

Gonna get my starter rebuilt and heads rebuilt. On the parts list is a new upgraded distributor and new gasket set for top end. New locking header bolts. New aluminum intake manifold and lastly ill give it a dress up kit. maybe new B&M shifter and maybe new something else by than.
Still have to clean up and paint under the hood. I might hit the firewall with that BOOM mat I picked up.

Dude starters are cheaper than rebuilding I'm pretty sure. I've gotten them dirt cheap for other vehicles.

They are also used and usually rebuilt in mexico.or china. I just wanna make.sure its done and working. I found a truck wrecking yard cpl citys away by my work, that has an electrical shop. Staters and alternators i think.mostly.

I did see new heads on ebay for not that much more but no parts in em?! Anyone shed some light on gt40 heads?

Carb i ordered. Lots of parts to gather.
Got #s off my heads. Buddy is looking em up. We couldnt find the block #s.

I think the last starter I got at napa was like 20 bucks. Next time I need one I'll get two and put one on the shelf. I've gotten years out of those cheap ones too.

Believe me. I know. I want to go and get a new $40 starter down the street....but one of my buddys. The old man from work. Is.insisting i get it rebuilt. I have time and thr incoming $ supplying this truck takes time. So, im gonna see what it.costs at least to get it rebuilt.

Good thing these r getting re.done and gone through. We flipped em over last night when looking at #s

Crappy soder and heatshrink.job i did this morning.
I may have to re do the two middle.ones
I used a larger diameter heatshrink on those and i dont think they.closed up enough.

Today i think i.got.my.intake lined up. 2 of the 3 major pieces are coming together. All ill have left to worry about are the heads, distributor, new gasket set, and starter.

Also today i scrubbed down the.engine bay and motor as best i could. Ripped.out the wanna b carpet/floor and majority of what was.left.of the makeshift firewall heat barrier.
I wanted to get to the passenger window and brake master cylinder but spent hrs just cleaning and vaccuming.

It dosent look that clean yet in the pictures. Lol
But its less gunky and grimmy and greasy which is that.much closer to paint.










Gonna give it another round and strong solvent wipe down prior to paint.
Also remove as much as i can around the engine bay.
