Re: What did you name your truck?
Lou because I mistakenly through PO had named it from the old punch tape label on the bottom of the dash. Later I found the switch hole for the old lift bed on the bottom so instead of Lou, it indicated 'Lower, Off, Up'.

LOL! That's cute! Reminds me of the time my 4yr old son was riding with me and asked me, "can I turn the Oreo? It's cold in here." I looked at him, puzzled by "Oreo". He pointed to the horizontally rotating temperature adjusting knob--black top and bottom with a white middle-- and explained to me that it looked like a cookie. He was right. It did look like an Oreo cookie. I'd never noticed. It takes a kid to see those things.Power By Ford 70 F250 4x4 wrote:My grandson named mine Clif-ford (The big red dog)
So now, no matter what vehicle or house we're in, when anybody in the family wants the temperature raised or lowered, we say, "up/down the Oreo, please!" Family-specific humor.

Re: What did you name your truck?
Since my wife's name is Peggy, which is a nickname for Margaret (don't ask me how, it just is) I named my truck Maggie, another nickname for Margaret. This works out well, that my girlfriend (truck) pays homage to my wife, so she doesn't get as jealous when I spend quality time working on 'Maggie' instead of with 'Peggy'.
I almost picked Meg, yet another Margaret variation, but my wife immediately said "Oh, after Meg Ryan?" whom she knew I had a crush on back in the day. That wasn't going to work!!

I have a patina'd 68 and she's a faded worn springtime yellow, so I call mine O'Yeller.

My wife likes to call my yellow and white, 1970 f250 SC CS "the banana boat". I dont call it anything as long as it keeps starting.

Re: What did you name your truck?
Can't believe I missed this thread. I bought my truck (1972 F100 302/3 speed) in the early spring of 2017. It was daily driven in the '70s by the original owner and then designated as a farm truck by the same owner. They acquired the truck after they traded in a '67 because of premature rust in the front fenders. Before the trade, the farmer planned to have Ford factory fenders painted and installed. I purchased the truck from a neighbor of the farmer, after the farmer's passing. The truck was barn kept from '94 until 2017. It came with a pair of NOS fenders in the tattered factory boxes. I've always wanted a Wimbledon white and blue 2 tone bump, so that's what I originally planned to do to this one. Then I had a great conversation with a gearhead buddy and told him I kind of liked the factory candy apple red color. With the rough edges on the truck, he said, "looks more like rotten apple red." It stuck...my red '72 bump is named Rotten Apple Red.

Re: What did you name your truck?
When my project started, it was a yellow '71 F100 that was dubbed the butternut squash.
I replaced that with a green '72 that is known either as The Green Weenie or Wasabi. Wasabi came about because my wife wasn't a fan of The Green Weenie.

Re: What did you name your truck?
Well, a permanent nickname is still up in the air, but since we drug it home back in Jan/2016, I've been referring to my '66 Crew Cab as "The Big Yellow Lump".....have thought about using BYL as an acronym, still not sure that will be it's permanent handle.......
