The Kingpins arrived in the mail this morning.




Lets see if I can press the bushings in. I used a 3/4" threaded rod with washers to get them started. As you can see one side is done already.



I then used a ball joint press to finish.

Yes, they have to be honed or reamed. I ordered a reamer, just waiting for it to come in to finish the job.

I was talking to a neighbor a few weeks ago and he said he had a 72 Ford Camper Special sitting in back of his place. Said it was in rough shape and I was welcome to any parts I wanted from it. I went yesterday and took a look. It is beat up pretty bad, but I was able to salvage a few parts. One of them being the back slider window. I don't know if I will put it in this one or not. Here is a pic of it.

Still waiting for the reamer for the kingpins. Looked at the transmission and decided to clean it up.



After half a day playing with it, this is what I got. The transmission was working fine when the truck was parked. Do you think I should rebuild it or just replace all the gaskets?

If the transmission works ok, I would probably just clean it up and replace the seals and gaskets.

Just pull the top and do an inspection of the gears. If they are good, reseal it and give the outside a coat of paint!

The reamer arrived a couple of days ago, I am very impressed with the quality and packaging. So, this afternoon I decided to try in out on the kingpin bushings. I took my time, because this is the first time I have ever done anything like this. I must say it turned out very good, there is no play at all in the kingpin. When you get close, just give the adjustable reamer 1/16" turns. Here are some pics.

I put the front end back together today. That might be it for this year. We have had frost already and I have some fall work to do before it snows,,, such a bad word,,lol. The winter will be spent ordering restoration panels for the cab. Here are a few pics of todays work.
