Re: 1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating
This was a lot of work. We started with 11 tons of material sitting about 25 feet from the area. We now have a much smaller pile and a big area to do some outside work. A side benefit is it looks a lot better too. I will move the rest of the material into the area to even it out as much possible. I am so lucky to have a crazy partner that will help lump all this material around.

Well it has been awhile so here is an update finally!
I got the last bit of the material spread out finally and got the frame and bed moved.
So now that the bed is sitting on the frame, I realized how tall it is going to be. The tires on there are just 16.5's off my 2 wheel drive parts truck but the space in that wheel well is crazy.

Well I thought I had dumped the blocks and just adjusted for that change. Now though it may have been too much adjustment. What I would love to get from you Highboy guys is your measurement from the top of your rear axle tube to the bottom of your frame?

Hey Paul, your truck looks tall but with that height, you should be able to get some big tires on the truck. On my truck, I have fairly new springs on my Highboy. They were made to factory specs from Alcan Spring and are 7700 lb rated springs that utilize the factory 4" block. I have from the top of the axle tube to the bottom side of the frame where the bump stop is, 13". I hope that helps you some.

Thanks Popeye. I got mine measured, wait here it comes 16.5" from the top of the tube to the bottom of the Frame! Right now with the bed sitting on the frame it is very level. I still have to put the cab and engine in, but these damn springs don't move much at all! More to come in the spring on the chassis. We are moving inside to work on the cab now.

First I want to thanks all the Vets and Active Military! My prayers are with you for your health and safety.
Still no progress on the truck, but while at Home Depot getting some hardware the wife saw a small fridge and said we need to get it for the garage I was quite surprised but ran and got a cart before she changed her mind.
Then today I spent a few minutes in the garage doing my first oil garage on the 2016 F150, wasn't too bad. I am not a big fan of the composite oil pan and plastic oil plug, but it works and there isn't an option for changing right now. I do like the cartridge style oil filter and it's location up high on the front of the engine.

I would have done the same thing in hurrying and getting a cart to get it! Glad she has been a good support for the project.

Re: 1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating
The wife and I were looking at the local college non-credit courses for welding and painting classes. I would like to take a stick welding class so I can use the stick welder I have. I guess we could just do what I did for the Mig Welder and just jump in and make a bunch of mistakes and figure it out. But I think we are going paint the truck our selves.
Now we have to get the floor patch finished, then on the some minor dent work on the cab.

The paint is not the issue its always the prep. With sheetmetal you want mig no doubt stick is for heavy iron any more. But that's my opinion. The main thing i'm glad to here is your not scared of trying new things on your project. The way it should be.

Oh never afraid to jump in with booth feet on trying things on the truck. I use the MIG for everything right now, learning how to use the stick welder will help with heavy fabrication.
On a side note, work on the truck has been interrupted by the neighbor's tree falling on our shed. Now there is a bunch of stuff in the garage and no room to work.

Bummer, hope nobody or the truck were hurt! Looking forward to your progress when you can get back to it.

No damage to the truck or parts. The big problem is that the storage has now moved into the garage. This causes a space issue.

Sorry for the tree fall. That stinks but at least no parts damaged. I gotta go back to your rear suspension again to see what you did. Going to go superduty springs front and trying to figure the best was to go on the rear. I remember you did some good stuff!!!
