72 highboy automatic
Hello, so I recently purchased a 72 F250 Highboy and it's a 4-speed but I'm wondering if there was a automatic C6 option for the High boys? If there was I assume I need they column the transmission and what?

Re: 72 highboy automatic
The C-6 on a Highboy had a special tail housing for the transfer case shifter to pivot on. The speedo cable on the Highboys goes to the transfer case, so no big deal, just plug the hole in the auto. The driveshaft length, the original one that goes between the transmission and transfer case is to long and will need to be shortened to work properly. The rear cross member and rear transmission mount will work with the automatic but you will have to move it back slightly for it to work. Just cut off the mounting rivets and drill new holes and remount with grade eight bolts. There was a guy on here a while back with the user name Tpdaniels. He had a Highboy project on here where he installed a C-6 into his truck. It turned out very nice.
