Hey all,
I've got a serious 'newbie' question... Other than the reflector on the bed, are there any differences between the '68 and '69 trucks? I've spent quite a lot of time looking at images on google for both years and can't seem to identify any other dissimilarities...
The reason I'm asking is that I've just agreed to buy a '68 parts truck that I'll be using several items from for my '69. My '69's hood is already off a newer truck ('71, I believe), and I don't want to end up adding any other mismatched pieces...
A further question: My truck came with no door keys -- my ignition key will fit into the tumblers on the doors, but will not turn. Were the ignition keys and door keys on these trucks different? Or has someone swapped out the ignition key tumbler at some point on mine?

The door locks were a different key with a round head instead of the squarish ignition key. New door locks. with keys, are readily available from several places online.

I believe the key with the square head is for the doors and the ignition. The key with the round head is for the glove box door, if it had that option. The cut on the keys should be the same on both sides so it doesn't matter which way it goes in to unlock the doors or turn on the ignition switch.
I believe someone has changed either the original ignition switch or the original door locks at some time, as originally the square key should fit both the ignition and the doors. If you take your truck or one of the door lock cylinders to a good key maker, they should be able to make you a new key, or you can buy new lock sets with keys.
