Crown Vic / Lincoln town car / mercury grand marque

Post by Zorm »

Ok so you guys that have done the full Cv frame swap, why did you choose the year doner car? I was walking around a pick n pull today and found a few of these cars for 97-2001 that looked good for a frame swap, they just didn’t have that removable aluminum front suspension. I don’t plan on a frame swap for my f250, looking to do it for a 78 Jeep Cherokee Chief. All these cars should have the same frame width right, like passenger compartment area. I would need to shorten the car frame and yes, get the drive shaft shortened.

If you're looking for the aluminum front suspension you need an 03-11 CV.......that was the changeover...... :D

I’m not looking for that front suspension. I was asking the guys that have done the whole CV frame swap. Why did they choose the frame they did? I can get the non aluminum front suspension cars way more cheaper. Just wondering is the ride or frame or suspension mods are different for the 2003-2011 CV frames?

Haven't done it myself and can't speak for others but my choice would be the '03-'11 models because they are bolt in crossmembers and a simpler install, in my opinion.

Back in the early years people would graft the front frame of the big fords ( and Plymouth Volare' and Mustang II )to the trucks .

The newer crown vic has a removable cross member that adapt to the truck frame without as much work.
So for what you want to do go for it there are no rules , only trends.
