This is the spacer that goes in the cross member behind the parking brake lever. I think the purpose of this may be to stiffen the cross member so the park brake does not cause it to flex.

Thank you for posting those pics. Now I have something else to try. I love how the electrolysis works on rust, so now I have another step.

Be warned, Zinc Plating is labor intensive and the learning curve is steep. However I find it very rewarding to take 50 year old hardware and make it look better than new. And with the chromate it will last much longer then just zinc alone. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the process. You are right, electrolysis is amazing. I used it on the spindles for this project. I just wish it could fill in the rust pits. If you haven't tried using graphite as your anode in your electrolysis tank then you should check it out. It's much cleaner, you don't get that rusty scum floating in your bath. I got mine at Mcmaster Carr item # 7979A19.

We are still working on making gold, but working on bump trucks is pretty close!

Well I don't know anything about alchemy but I can sure make gold disappear!!
I have my frame partially assembled so I thought I would post some of the progress.

The drum brakes are gone, and now are disc. I cleaned and re plated original king pin grease caps. They are a bit different then the aftermarket ones.

The Springs, I beams, spindles and radius rods are all powder coated.
