My first truck.

Post by Fordkid68 »

Hello, I just recently purchased my first truck, that I hope to restore before I get my license. It has a 360, and an FMX trans, but I am putting in a 351W, and toploader 4-speed. It will be my daily driver. When I got it the cab had already been painted but the bad had not, although I am planning a color change anyway. It was originally from CA so it is very solid. Which is unusual to find here in NWPA. Here is a pic of the the progress so far...

I removed the 360, and front clip, and started to patch the floors, and radiator support. It has been a fun project so far!

:wel:

Good start and congrats on the score of the decent body! :woohoo:

The parts for the Z-bar might be the hardest "obstacle" you'll have to overcome, (obselete parts no longer made). If you don't have those lined up already I'd suggest maybe posting a "wanted" ad here on the forum under the "parts" section, (as I'd bet big bucks a member here has done just the opposite and changed from manual to automatic as i did years ago) and prob has the parts you'll need for this laying around.

Thanks for the tip basketcase0302! Do you still have clutch/brake pedals from your swap that you would be willing to sell?

Not sure, (and he isn't either) if it came from a bump era.

There seem to be several from the dent era for sale on fleabay. Maybe try to match up a part number from the dent era to see if the one above is from a bump or dent? :hmm:
