Hello everybody,
I have a 1972 highboy I’m restoring. I have it down to a bare frame now. I want to upgrade to disc brakes. I currently have a Dana 44 closed knuckle steering axle.
I have been told the Dana 44 out of a 78-79 F250 would bolt right in. I question this because the highboy has a narrower frame. I’m also curious if there is a kit out there to update my current axle.
Any info would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Disc brake conversion
The frame differences are in the back half of the frame, under the bed. From the back of the cab forward the measurements are the same. It'll bolt up.

Re: Disc brake conversion
I put a 76 d44 big ball in my 67 hi boy, bolted right in. only mod is flexible brake hoses. I had mine custom made, to account for lift and get the ends I needed.
