Those resin kits are usually a much bigger project than the mass produced styrene ones. It looks like a lot of work to get it looking right. I've thought of trying to covert one of my AMT dentsides, but haven't. I haven't completed a model kit in about 9 years now. The last one took about a year. Way too much scratch building and not enough time.
Now I spend my free time on the house and the real trucks. Maybe when I retire I'll get back to it. If I can still see be then.

Re: Ford truck model history
I'm a resin caster. If anyone wants to master the 67-72 F-series pickup trucks, I'll be happy to cast it, just let me know. I'm currently casting all the grilles from 73-79 and a few other parts in resin for the AMT trucks but would love to do the earlier 67-72 pickups. Here's a link to my ebay store. Thanks Kenny.

This contrasts an untouched AMT cab and box side with the resin '72' casting. A lot of work was done to get the box back to a regular wheelbase configuration and he molded the bump all the way along the body. Other than that, the cab and wheel openings are unmodified. The chassis plate is actually a lengthened copy of the one from the '61-'63 AMT unibody model kit.
Here's what's included for grill (compared to stock AMT '76/'77 grill), tailgate and dash. I'm not trying to hammer the guy, but though a good start, the resin kit is basically unfinished and pretty inaccurate. If you like a major project, by all means find yourself one but I've been thinking of starting fresh on an extra cab I have to do a more accurate conversion. You can see the measurement notes I made on the sketch in the pic to help get the dimensions right. Might take a while but if any of you guys want to try whittling the various years of grills, dash or tailgate maybe we can get a master together for one of the resin casters to make. I'll be using a scale of 1mm = 1" -1/25.

Re: Ford truck model history
Just thought an update was due regarding what's currently available for Ford truck kits...
This 1/25 scale '71 F100 390 longbox was the first kit released by moebius models last summer. It was followed up immediately by a '69 F100 300 six shortbox(supplied with F250 hubcaps! ) issued under the model king brand.
70 and 72 shortboxes have hit the market recently as well. As the amt '78 Super Stones 4x4 has been re-released as well, there now exists a great pile of kitbashing opportunities
A number of us are hoping to see a resin caster come out with a decent '68/'69 grill as the one supplied with the new kit is somewhat less than accurate...

Re: Ford truck model history
Very nice looking trucks have been built from these kits right out of the box but for those modelers that have been wondering if they weren't jes' a little 'off', there's some tips here for making them a little more accurate...
First off are some pics with dimensions added, showing how close the 73-79 cabs are to the 67-72s...
Applying these measurements (divide by 25) to the new F100 cab shows a number of key areas are 'off'.
The AMT cab was very well done and is very accurate to scale. Parts from it, like the roof, can be used to make the new cab more accurate.
IF you're motivated to do the work Disappointing to see a much wanted kit end up like they had no advisors to spot the flaws.
purple and yellow lines are both 9", red is 76", orange is 56" and blue is 6.5".

Re: Ford truck model history
A gent is now using a 3D printer to make a much improved (over the moeb kit) 1/25 scale bump cab...
along with a wrecker body as well as a crew cab version with a shortbox...
Check out this thread on the model cars magazine website:
