70 F-250 Driveway cab swap - Continued

Post by Sharkdance »

Continued from this thread: http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 2924#72924

Here are some better pix of the painted cab. The last set was too dark.
I have ordered glass and door seals and am now saving up more $$ for a firewall cover so I hope to continue progress pretty soon.
Right now Im working on my doors, fenders, and hood. Havent even started on the bed yet.

Wow. Got your work cut out for you there. May you get a good match for color and not have a major visit from the gravel fairy (dust in paint) :)
Keep up the good work-you're getting me closer to that critical mass of motivation to get out and rip into mine...

I have no idea how the LMC repops are constructed, so I can't help you with installing them. However, I was planning on sitting down tonight and ordering seals too, so I appreciate the heads-up. Maybe I should just go straight to Dennis Carpenter, since more of their stuff seems to be slightly higher-quality.

trukcrazy, thanks for asking.
Havent been able to do much to the truck this past two weeks due to fullfilling my obligation to paint/repair a friends house.
I had to replace a lot of rotten wood around the house first and replace an aluminum screened in porch roof before starting the job of painting the house.
He paid me up front and paid well so Im not complaining.
One more week end and I should be done with that and back on my truck.

Finaly finished the side job I had. So I spent part of today on my truck.

I DID IT!! I got my back glass and windshield installed. And I didnt break it!
No pics yet cuz it got dark on me.
Took me almost 5 hours but that included a run to the parts store, a tint job on the rear glass, and I did the whole job by myself. Definetly would have been easier with another person but you do what you gotta do.
Before I put the back glass in, I tinted it. (dark) That way the tint runs all the way up under the seal. No cut line around the edges and it was a lot easier to tint it while it was out of the truck and laying flat. Not perfect, but a lot better than the bubble/scratch job the previous owner had done before I bought it.

Sorry, still didnt get any pics of the cab with the glass installed. Realy not that impressive though. Same everything, just with glass.

BUT

I do have a couple of pics of whats left of the donor truck leaving. :D
Wideguage came by today and took the frame, bed, and what was left of the 70 cab.
Glad I found someone who can use it or at least will part it out a little farther before it hits the crusher.
