Tallboys resto

Post by Tallboy »

So I'll start this thread as I put Billy back together. The parting shots was him leaving for the sandblaster..... that was 5 weeks ago.

Since then here's whats happened. Got the chassis back and have POR 15'd the frame and drivelines, installed new springs all the way around (gitz in Auburn was a good call Heep!) and have basically gotten everything ready to go for the cab when it's done at the paint shop. The motor trans, and running gear is all in. I have two shocks to mount and its done.

I have pics at home that I'll upload tonight or tomorrow.

Cab is coming on Saturday so hopefully I can get alot done this weekend.

Kentdaryl I may need to ask for your help/ put together truck to see where everything goes..... :D I'll post pics of the color as well.

Tallboy, sounds like you are making great progress. Once my grungy work was done it sure was satisfying putting clean and/or new parts back together. Can't wait to see it.

Everything including the frame and diffs were sandblasted. fenders, hood, etc..... sandblasting, primer on everything, powder coating the inner fenders, rad support, transport to and from and misc parts came to 2K. well worth it to me becasue I have a great foundation to start from.

Whoa, FLASHBACK! Tallboy, did you abandoned your rear outboard cab mounts? Just curious because I don't see them. Mine were totally shot so I moved mine inboard too(?). Lookin' GREAT

Funny you should ask Kentdaryl.... Why yes, yes I did. They were wasted. The front ones as well.... Shouldn't be a hard thing to mount like a 2wd I imagine. I removed the fronts from the doner truck that were in as new condition and installed them on it. I used all new grade 8 bolts on everything on the frame so it should be strong enough..... :D

BTW just stopped by the painters shop..... It is the sweetest red I have ever seen. :D :D :D :D Scott at Baileys Restorations (ad plug :D )did an amazing job and it looks AWESOME!!!!. get the cab tomorrow afternoon. Anybody feel like helping move a cab to my house and put it on the frame? Seriously.....

Umm.. what is the bar-like addition in front of the drag link? Never seen one of those. Is that something you fabbed up for protection? Stock piece?
