All else has failed.....

Post by wildcard »

But I've lost the instructions. I have a volt/dwell/rpm meter and cant remember where to hook up the leads (one black, one green) to check the Dwell and RPMs. About all Iremember is it is an old Craftsman. Could get the model # if I put on my glasses :D . Any help would be appreciated. BTW, it's a 300 I6, with points and condenser.

Just a guess, but black to ground and green to the positive side of the coil?
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!

Thats prretty much it, only it has just a small black and a small red gator clip. And it doesn;t have the dial. Only the slide selector in the vertical position. The scales appear the same.If you could send those to me I'd sure be grateful. I can probably figure it out with a little jolt of the old memory. Thanks

Never seen one like that, wierd. These instructions probably wont help much, but I'll dig them out later and get it scanned in this evening. Use the email button below to email me, and don't forget to type in your email address so I can send you the files. Probably be .doc files, but I'll see how they turn out when scanned, and may have to save them as .jpg to get them to be readable (not all that familiar with my scanner :D )

Hi! Normally dwell meters connect to the coil negative (-) post. But before you do that there should be some kind of adjustment to zero out the meter when you have the test leads shorted together.

"Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes."

Barry, I see what you're saying, but it's an old model (when Sears and Roebuck were still together) and the needle sets on 0 all the way across when not in use.
