Nice work. Too bad you started out w/ a XLT. Lots of trim holes to fill. It would have been easier if you would have found a plain jane 68 or something like that. But hey, you gotta work with whacha got.
I have a 71 XLT that is going to be completely trimmed up. Its gonna have everything. I also have a 68 plain jane that is going to be trimless. So I get the best of both worlds.

Here are the latest pics...
One of the sides completed except for final sanding. Both sides are done.
The roll pan installed. You can barely see how I cut it out for the license plate to show through.
And finally a pic of the wheels and tires that are going on her.

18x7.5 with a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. As soon as I get them in I'll measure them against the truck and see how thick the adapters will have to be but I'm thinking about 2 inches or so. I can't wait until they get here and I can get some weight in the front to see what it's really gonna look like.marz68 wrote:looking good!

Here are some pics of work done this weekend. The fillerwork is DONE!!!!
All I have to do now to get it ready for paint is final sanding and a good coat of sealer.
My wheels should be here today and I'm going to look at an 86 t-bird with a 302 and an auto with only 67,000 mi on it for the drivetrain. I think I've talked myself out of putting the 4.6 in it because this is an outdoor project and I don't think I can get it in and get it out of the weather quickly enough. Plus the t-bird is a screaming deal if I get it. We'll see I guess.

Wow that looks GOOD, On your wheels they look good to, Our trucks take a 0 offset. If that wheel is 7.5" wide then your back space will be from dead center (3.75) to the wheel inner mounting surface . Forget the front its the back that will have to be perfect and what ever fits the rear will clear in the front. My Crager 441,s are 17x8, with a 0 offset and 29" tall so I found out its the inner bed clearance on the rear that will decide your back space for you. Good luck, its looking good and that sounds like a good deal on a whole car with the motor you want. Besides with a running donor car you have every part you need for the swap sitting right beside the truck.

That color sure brings out the great style lines
and shape of the truck. What's the final shade
going to be? Hope 'mini-me' is getting some good
hands on experience helpin' you out with that

Thanks everyone, here are some new pics...
Here it is with the grill and bumper temporarily on...
and I smoothed the dash last weekend...
mk, Here is a photoshop of the finished project, I'm going with a charcoal grey over silver with burgundy accents, all custom mixed. I'm not sure about the hood stripes or not. What do you guys think?

Looking good man. I just ordered a roll pan and can't wait to get it on and see how it fits and looks. So are you gonna cut your bumper and put driving lights in it? I like that look. Was thinking of the same thing and after seeing your pic I think I will.

yeah, I have to have it rechromed anyway so I figured I'd customize it while I have the chance.Big D's 69 wrote:Looking good man.
