I have had a 68 SWB sitting up at storage for about two years. I finally got it home yesterday. My 71 is called the PPE (see other thread) and this 68 is called "the black truck". I got it in Galveston for $200 and it is a plain jane straight six truck. I was going to keep it like that but I found out the straight six isn't a 240/300 but a crappy car six that some crazy PO put in.
About four months ago, I parted out a very low miles 74 lincoln and I kept the 460/C6 combo to put in this truck. It will be nice when done. Here are some pics when it was up at storage. It is now safely at home. It already has the chrome style side bumper w/ brackets, but the bumper is black so I will get a new chrome one. I also have an aluminum 69 ranger grill ready to go on too. Also, the guy that one the red crew cab up north and then started selling parts a couple of weeks ago lives near by. I got the back seat from the crewcab. It is factory original and looks almost new. He also gave me the matching arm rests and seatbelts.
When complete, my 68 will be black (no chrome trim at all) with a 69 ranger grill, dark red interior, 460/C6, PS, and PB. I also have a AC setup, but I'm not sure I'm going to use it.
Brought another SWB home.
