re: 68 CS Project: update 5/6/08
Hey guys,
It's been a little while since Ive got to do anything on the '68 CS...
This evening, I finally got a chance to work on the new fuse block.
Here's a couple pics of the new fuse block before installation.
The finished size is 3.5 x 5 inches.
I'm going to have to fabricate a mounting plate that will mount to the original holes, with holes that match the new block so it can be mounted in the original place.
I'm pretty happy about how it turned out so far...
Here's a couple pf pics...
Disassembled gang fuse block
Revamped & reassembled
click on pics to enlarge
I started with a 10 fuse Buss gang fuse block.
I dissasembled it, then cut the power distribution tree in two pieces.
I couldn't figure out an easy way to attach a hot wire to the second piece.
I had another fuse block that I'd gotten for the bus.
I cut the tree of the second block to fit the first block.
Then reassembled the block.
I drilled out the holes to mount the single fuse hoders and soldered them in place.
Then used a zip tie to secure the other end. now...
One side supplies 4 fused circuits with power from the ignition switch.
(circuit # 297)
The 2nd side is a direct feed from the battery to 6 fused circuits.
(this is for new circuits like the spot light, stereo & amp, etc)
The other power distribution block feeds up to 12 unfused circuits with power from the light switch. (circuit #37)
The two separate fuse holders are for circuits #54 (cigar ltr / dome light) and circuit # 383 (e.flasher / brake lights)
The remaining in line fuseholder is for circuit # 19 going to the instrument panel.
That should eliminate the poor connections at the fuse block and add the extra circuits I needed.

Aha, you figured out how to get more power feed circuits out of that fuse block, good deal and that reminds me I need to work on that fuse block schematic I'll get to it sometime soon...
