lobuck,

I would love to have a bigger shop like that. Just not in the pocketbook right now. Looks great.

The closest thing i have to a shop is a 6x12ft storage room where mom agreed i could build my engine but i'd rather roll it out under the car port and breathe the fresh air.......her washer and dryer takes up good bit of my shop lol think she would complain if i set a c6 on her dryer 4 lil while?Would probably crush it lol something i'll never understand but will always love.....women :D :hmm: :D  :D

MAn i wish i even had a 'storage room' to work on my stuff. My 'rents take up all of the garage and extra rooms with damn papers and business crap. Can't even take out my 429/c6 and learn to rebuild it, and im sure all of you wish you just had a 429 laying around :D

My shop is a old wooden drive in barn. Its has part concrete part dirt. The shed is an old grain shed built in 1946ish. It has a light outside, one way in the top of the celling (25-30ft) and one where the cows are milked. (lots of troublelights)

OK, I finally got a decent shot of the inside of my shop today, after I got done stripping the F250 cab. It's kinda messy, and definitely filling up.

This is actually a composite pic...I stitched it together (very quickly) from two pictures.

That place looks big enough to land a plane in Kieth....if you got those trucks outta the way.
I sure would like to walk around in there for a coupla hours, be more productive than all the time spent in the bone yards, looks like you've got most of what I need all in one place.
Kind of makes me miss the wide open spaces of the midwest, course, I only wear long pants if I'm in uniform or riding one of the bikes.

Well, I guess I better throw mine in here too. My shop is a big one, but that just means more crap gets drug in.. or bigger crap! Right now there's a rock crusher taking up most of the main shop, while I do the Spring work on it, and a couple trucks and loaders waiting outside. I built this shop to restore/fix airplanes, so had to have some size to it. The main building is 60x60, with 16' walls, and has a 13x25'6" (inside dimension) cross/down flow paint booth, with 12' walls. The main hangar door is 50'x14'. Off to the side, I have a 20x60 "lean-to", where I do alot of the smaller work, and where I keep the woodworking stuff, that's connected to the main shop by a 10x10 roll-up door, and a walk through door. The main shop floor is heated with a wood-fired boiler, and the lean-to has gas heat. Right now the lean-to is being taken up by a late 1800's Studebaker wagon, and my Harley. The one thing that I found out in building this shop is that no matter how BIG you build your shop, you're not going to have as much room as you want.. there's always more stuff to come in!! hahaha.

Hey hardtailjohn that is one big setup. I was wondering who made your hanger building?

If it is a Miracle Steel building my Father-In-Law works at that company and may have helped put it together.

It's a "Dandy", Spartman.. they're made locally here... and my brother in law did the actual construction. I made it big enough to get a deHaviland Beaver on amphib floats in. It's not finished, but I've got to get more $$ stacked up to finish the inside of the main hangar.. maybe this summer.

I see.

Looks just like the ones they build here.

Wish I could afford one.

I was wondering if you could insulate those with the SIP panel, the one that has wood attached only on one side?

I don't see why not.... this one's set up with a 6" wall stud, and I'm planning on going with 'glas insulation and then steel over it, just like on the outside of the building. I've worked in a few that are done that way and it's awesome!! You never have to worry about fire, and it's pretty easy to grab the pressure washer if ya get a splatter. They're nice and tough in case anything gets bumped on them, and they're awesome if you have to do any electrical repair or anything... just unscrew the panel and fix whatever, then screw it back on! I'll throw some 4x8 windows of plexiglas in the door, as I can't stand to work in here without being able to see out. There's an outfit in Canada, called Sunshine Door that does the whole door in plex.. it's awesome!! They have a great website!
