I have a metal one but the factory gauges bolt from the front on metal not from the back like the plastic ones. but if you are using the aftermarket round gauges I guess it wouldn't matter.

Well, I think a metal one would finish up nicer. The plastic one needed sanding, priming,cutting, sanding, painting, masking, etc. If I had a metal one, I'd just cut it and send it to the powdercoater or the plater.
